The Forsaken (playable race) of the Horde are one of the three undead factions of Azeroth. They originate from the humans of the kingdom of Lordaeron, who were annihilated and raised as undead by the Lich King’s Scourge. For a time after the Third War ended (year 20), the Lich King’s powers waned, allowing some of the undead to regain their freewill and rise up against the Scourge under the leadership of Sylvanas Windrunner. Their capital city was Undercity until the BfA expansion (2018).
