“Corruption” is Blizzard’s take on mind control, a recurring theme in their media and is often perpetuated by the Burning Legion against their unsuspecting victims. Some notable cases of corruption include the orcs in Warcraft 1 & 2 (the First & Second Wars, after drinking Mannoroth’s blood), Arthas in Warcraft 3 (Third War, after acquiring Frostmourne) and Deathwing the Destroyer (previously Neltharion the Earthwarder).
